Week 10 - Remote and In-person Teaching and Learning

Remote Teaching and Learning

After 10 weeks of remote teaching and learning, we are optimistic that this will be our last week. We commend each of our students from their effort and engagement during the school closure period. We truly hope that this is the last time we will have to shut the school in such serious circumstances. It is vitally important that we all play our part by keeping contacts to a minimum and follow the guidelines over the coming weeks.

Return to School

On Monday, April 12th, it is planned that 1st, 2nd, 3rd and TY students will return. All students returning must have a signed return to school form with them in order to be admitted to class. The form can be downloaded HERE. We do not want to refuse anyone on day one so we urge all parents and students to ensure that the form is signed and safely in the school bag for the reopening. Anyone who travels abroad over the Easter will not be permitted to return and will have to complete the mandatory isolation period.

Leaving Certificate Oral and Practical Examinations

We send luck and best wishes to all the Leaving Certificate students who are doing their oral Irish, French and Spanish next week! The students are well prepared and they have worked hard, we know they will do great. Bon Chance, ádh mor agus buea suerta.

Creative Writing

Fifth Year English students are using their vivid imaginations and creative writing skills In entering The Edna O Brien Young Writers Bursary 2021 in MoLI.. the Museum of Literature. We wish them good luck and success!
Green Schools
Neat Streets is Ireland’s #1 Anti-Litter and Waste Programme for Secondary Schools and works with schools tackling litter and waste. This year the Annual Neat Streets Conference took place on Thursday 25th March and St. Mary’s was delighted to be chosen as one of the 36 schools participating in the conference. Congratulations to 2nd year students; Mary Rochford, Eve Boylan, Rebecca Foley and Jennifer Adamski who represented our school brilliantly in this important event. Well done to all involved and to Ms. Ryan for facilitating our school’s involvement in this worthwhile initiative.
Anxiety and Mental Health
We know that this pandemic has taken its toll on mental health and some young people are experiencing anxiety. Jigsaw, the agency which supports youth mental health is continuing to provide talk therapy. Information about how you can access their supports are available at this link:https://jigsaw.ie/talk-online/
Happy Easter
We wish all members of the school community a happy and peaceful Easter. Hopefully, the weather will improve and we can get out and about
