As per our school calendar, we wish to invite parents of 3rd year students to an Information Meeting on Thursday, November 18th at 7pm. The Exam Year is a significant milestone in your daughter’s education and the meeting will provide information about the Junior Cycle and what can be expected over the coming months. Ms. Smullen will be in attendance to provide a roadmap for the remainder of the school year.

Important decisions will be made in the coming weeks about senior cycle options and our Programmes Co-ordinator, Ms McCormack will also be in attendance to provide information on Transition Year. The meeting will take place via your daughter's Teams account. We look forward to seeing you.

Jigsaw

Well done to the students involved in Jigsaw who are training as peer educators to support mental health promotion in the school. Peers play an important role in young people’s lives. Young people are most likely to seek support from their friends. Their behaviour is often heavily influenced by their peer group. The Jigsaw peer education programme is a health promotion approach that uses peer networks to deliver educational and skill-building material to promote health and wellbeing.

Art Competition

We are very proud to have the overall winner in the ' THERE IS ANOTHER WAY' art competition. Chloe Halpin's image captured the essence of this message with her drawing of a door of opportunity opening.
All TY students entered the competition along with hundreds of students from other schools and created many outstanding art pieces .
We would like to join the whole school community in congratulating Chloe on this great win.

Aspire2 was established in 2015 by DPS Global. The vision of the initiative is to:

  • support students in their personal growth and development
  • motivate and encourage them to complete their second level education successfully
  • help them to achieve leaving certificate results that reflect their true potential
  • provide them with opportunities to progress further through the education system
  • help them to realise their potential and their aspirations.

The members of the Youth Advisory Committee from St. Mary's enjoyed a campus visit to UCD during the midterm break to explore university life. They met with the students from all the other schools involved in the programme.

6th Year Parent Teacher Meeting

The 6th Year Parent Teacher Meeting will take place on November 22nd from 4.15-6.45pm. Instructions have been provided to your daughter as to how to access the meetings. Young Social Innovators (YSI)

Students in Transition Year have been working on their social action projects as part of YSI. This exciting programme provides a unique opportunity to young people to explore and take innovative action on an issue they care about, to engage with their community in new ways and to make a difference in the world around them. Along the way, students are invited to fun and engaging events and are given opportunities and platforms to voice their opinions and ideas for change. Students in St. Mary's have been exploring the topics of homelessness, poverty and mental health.
