New First Years
We were delighted to welcome our new first years to the school on August 24th. We wish them every success as they begin their journey with us in St. Mary’s. Ms Smullen is the Year Head for first year.
New Staff Members
We welcome some new staff members to our team this year. Ms Byrne has joined our Irish Department. Ms O’Neill has joined our Business Department. Ms. Leetch and Ms McDonough return to the team and Ms Ruane joins the Guidance Department.
ICT
Over the summer, the school purchased 10 new classroom PCs, 30 student laptops and new top of the range data projectors for all classrooms. The digital upgrade will increase student engagement, help teachers and facilitate personalized learning. It also helps students build essential 21st-century skills. This project was funded by the Department of Education.

Leaving School Early
For child protection reasons, we have a policy on leaving school throughout the school day. Please review the procedure here . Only a designated adult listed on our system or prearranged in writing can collect a student from the school. We appreciate your cooperation regarding this important matter.
Mobile Phone
Please help us in encouraging the students to keep their phones in their school bags during school day unless under teacher supervision.
PE Gear
The school PE gear (navy/black leggings, white polo shirt and navy hoodie) is worn on days students have PE class on their timetable. For students partaking in extracurricular sporting activities PE gear should be brought into school to change before training begins after school.
Leaving Certificate Results
The results of the Leaving Certificate 2022 were released today through the Candidate Self-Service Portal (CCSP) by the State Examinations Commission (SEC). We welcomed the candidates back to the school to celebrate their great results.
Open Evening
Our Open Evening for prospective students will take place on Tuesday, September 13th from 5pm-7pm. Information will be distributed through the primary schools, on our website and by social media.
Traffic Management
We ask that parent(s)/guardian(s) do not drive into the school grounds if possible. If a parent(s) /guardian(s) require access to the school, please be aware that we operate a drop and go policy and that parking is only if parent(s) /guardian(s) are coming into the school to meet with school personnel.
School Meals
A Breakfast Club is available to all students each morning in the canteen. The school will soon be able to offer a subsidy to hot lunches and provide free cold lunches.
Building Works
The school is undergoing a multi-million-euro energy retrofit project over the summer break. The works will continue until early in the new year. A new heating system, new lighting, insulation inside and outside, 100% fresh air ventilation and a new fire door are being installed.
Transition Year
The Transition Year Programme is up and running with an action-packed programme of activities planned for the coming year. The Transition Year offers students an opportunity to: Engage in independent, self-directed learning, Develop general, technical, and academic skills. Mature and develop without the pressure of an examination
School Calendar

Jigsaw Youth Mental Health
All teachers have engaged in mental health training with JIGSAW Youth Mental Health.
Parents Association AGM
The AGM will take place in October - date to follow.
Extra Curricular
Our Gaelic, Basketball, Rugby and Soccer Teams will begin their training after school in the coming weeks. More detailed information to follow.
After School Study
After School Study will commence on the 14th of September. It runs every day from 3.45pm to 5.40pm. Refreshments are provided before study begins. €120 for this resource is payable on Easy Payments.
