20 students from 5th year attended an Aspire 2 mentoring session on Tuesday 15th February from 12 - 1pm. The mentoring was carried out by employees of DPS Global who shared their career journeys and facilitated questions and answers from the students. The aim is to encourage the students to begin thinking about courses and colleges that may interest them as they approach 6th Year.

Department of Education Inspection

The school had a Department inspection on Monday, February 14th. The inspector visited classrooms and observed lessons. She also met with members of staff and spoke to students. The focus of the inspection was (1) teaching and learning and (2) compliance with anti-bullying procedures. The inspector provided very positive feed back on all areas of the school and reported that the school met the requirements in relation to implementing all aspects of the Anti-Bullying Procedures. The school anti-bullying policy can be viewed HERE.

Uniform

It has come to our attention in recent weeks that some students are presenting themselves at school wearing incorrect uniform.

We like all our students to wear the uniform as per the school Code of Behaviour and would also like your support. We believe the school uniform is important:

It looks smart πŸ‘
It wears well πŸ‘
Contributes to a sense of belonging and community πŸ‘
Makes students feel equal to their peers πŸ‘
Fosters a sense of pride πŸ‘
Is designed with health and safety in mind πŸ‘
It prepares students for the world of work πŸ‘

Green Schools

The Green school Water Ambassadors, Hannah Mc Dermott, Cliodhna Murphy and Rebecca Foley are busy working on their action plan to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation at school and at home. They will deliver an information presentation to Junior classes next month and are preparing the 'Save Water’ noticeboard with helpful tips and advice.

They represented our school recently at the marine clean-up on Sandymount beach in association with CleanCoasts.org and Greenschoolsireland.org. They learnt how to biologically text for water purity and saw evidence of discarded wipes washed ashore tangled with seaweed. They connected with other green schools and shared ideas and friendships. Keep up the good work girls.

Mock Results

Mock Results will be issued on March 11th.

Major Works

School Building.jpg

We are absolutely delighted to have been selected for a major investment in our school building which will provide for new insulation throughout, new windows, new heating, new lighting and a fully automated and integrated 100% fresh air ventilation system. The works will transform the 1967 building into a modern energy efficient and comfortable space to learn and to teach. We are delighted that the school will benefit from such an extensive and comprehensive retrofit and that students in the school can look forward to a superb learning environment as a result of the multi-million-euro upgrades. The works will commence after the State Examinations in June.
